Meet Our Queen

Royal Greeting from the Queen X-centric X-traordinaire! Thank you for taking the time to visit with me.

Several years ago my mother and her sister came home from a trip to Branson, MO. They had been in a shop that had Red Hat stuff. Someone there told them about the Red Hat Society.

Mom said it sounded like fun, especially since she had recently retired. My sister found the RHS web site and located a chapter practically in Mom’s backyard. Since she was nervous about going alone, I volunteered to go with her. The ideas of the Society sounded pretty good to me.

Needless to say, I too enjoyed it. Enough to drive an hour every month to attend their meetings still.

I have reached the age where my children are grown, my husband and I both work, and more of my time was spent with the dogs than anyone else.  After spending so many years as PTA mom, booster clubs, dance competitions, and ball games, the quiet was nice for awhile. Slowly it began to creep in on me. Age 50 was rapidly becoming a reality and didn’t seem so old anymore. Was there a more perfect time to start a chapter of my own? Besides, what little girl in all of us doesn’t want to be a princess and wear a big hat or crown. Queen is even better!

Now, I may sound like a “Drama Queen” when I say the X-centrics have been my salvation in many ways. They have given me back the fun and friendship I was missing. In a nut shell, it’s the best present I ever gave myself.

The X-centrics are a wonderful group of ladies. My day always seems a little brighter, and I smile more often every time I speak or hear from one of them. They embrace all the RHS was meant to be. Even though I still have a couple of year before my Red-uation, I am already looking for that special red hat. It will be like something from “My Fair Lady”. For now I have purchased my first Tiara, and it won’t be the last. They are so fun to wear! The collection of Hats and Hat Boxes in the closet continues to multiply, kind of like rabbits, and the bling is starting glow in the dark.

Thank you Red Hatters, and especially my X-centrics, for giving us all something great to look forward to in the next phase of our lives.

Just remember:

“If you laugh a lot, when you get older your wrinkles will be in the right places!”
(Andrew Mason)

With Love and Hattitude!
